Normally I roll out a solid top crust and cut a few slits on top. Shalum mentioned that I should try lattice strips. While I've seen them in pictures before, I haven't actually done a lattice-top pie myself, so when I made an apple pie for New Year's Eve, I decided to try it out.
While this was a good pie, on hindsight I might make the strips narrower and closer together. More experiments to come!
